Carrie Jackson’s Time Bomb sculpture clock was created with low fire clay and sawdust fired in her own kiln. Carrie painted her complex and visually entertaining time sculpture with acrylic and metallic paint and incorporated mixed media of wood and metal. She also created 45 separate miniscule organic sculpture shapes that appear to be exploding out of her Time Bomb clock! Carrie’s Time Bomb sculpture is the first piece in her series of clay time pieces that are completely functional clocks; the time piece itself is removable and battery operated. This bold sculpture embraces a lot of interesting concepts and symbology like “handle your time with caution” and “holding onto time is tricky”. This loud sculpture also speaks about the dimensions and the complexity of time. Time Bomb was inspired by one of Carrie’s dreams and her deep fascinations with the look and feel of old sea mines. The inaccessible feel of her clock is truly part of the irony, as time is fragile and hard to keep your hands on. Time Bomb is not just a clock but also an amazing work of art that took Carrie hours of steadiness, patience and sculpting skill to bring to life.
