First Tree is one of Carrie Jackson’s most spell binding pieces that holds it’s viewers captive with it’s magic and charm. First Tree really calls out to people as it brings to mind thoughts of life, creativity, inspiration and possibilities, all which are expressed wonderfully in Carrie Jackson’s composition. Every exceptional curl, line and spatter in First Tree perfectly highlight Carrie Jackson’s raw talent! Carrie Jackson’s style in First Tree has been compared to Tim Burton and Ronald Dahl for it’s twisted, eerie yet hauntingly beautiful feel. First Tree conveys such an amazing energy through it’s lines and movement. You can almost see First Tree growing before your very eyes like Jacks magic bean stalk. First Tree, one of Carrie Jackson’s most signature paintings, blends Sumi-e, abstract and impressionism together perfectly. Carrie has definitely created a painting style all her own in her gorgeous and well-known work of art. First Tree was published in “Artists of the West” art book and featured in “Lifestyles Montana” art magazine in 2008. First Tree has literally been viewed by hundreds of thousands of art fans internationally. In 2007 Carrie Jackson was honored to be chosen to display First Tree in an art exhibit held in the prestigious Rialto Towers in Melbourne, Australia. Carrie Jackson’s painting First Tree was displayed in the front foyer for a special two week art exhibit with exposure to over 5,000 people a day! The success of First Tree is something that really astonishes and touches Carrie’s heart, especially considering it’s inspiring and humble beginnings…
“This is truly the first tree I ever painted, the need to paint and create was something brewing so strongly inside that I had to do something about it. Yet my resources were very limited. I grabbed the only paint I had any access to, a can of my father’s black spray paint, sprayed it into the lid of the can and used the only paintbrush I owned (a cheep nylon brush from a water color kit) and I created. I finished my painting with the only two pastels I owned orange and brown. Necessity is the mother of invention, or maybe it’s that there is more than one way to skin a cat. I may have grown up in a home with very few luxuries but my passion to create always pushed me to feed my creativity. So this is a very special piece to me and I hope to others as well. Never let what you don’t have keep you from achieving anything. Look around, there’s always something to create with.” – Carrie Jackson
